# Overview

## DEFIT Mission

> **What are we about?**
>
> Our primary goal is to make physical activity more fun, appealing and rewarding. Incentivising people to get out and move in order to meet the Word Health Organization guidelines on Physical activity. \
> \
> **To achieve that goal DEFIT focus on two strategic initiatives:**\
> 1/ Gamify physical activity -> Hack people's motivation\
> 2/ Value Physical activity -> If inactivity has a cost, activity must have value
>
> **Why does it matter?**
>
> Physical activity is essential to health, and yet, collectively, we have become more inactive. It has been declining in the past few decades to the point where as many as 27.5% to 31% of adults worldwide are now physically inactive. 4 teenagers out of 5 do not meet the minimum threshold of physical activity per week recommended by WHO. Our children have lost 25% of their cardio vascular capacities last 40 years.\
> \
> The Lancet has described the rise of physical inactivity as “pandemic, with far-reaching health, economic, environmental, and social consequences.”\
> \
> **How much physical activity should we do?**
>
> For health and wellbeing, **WHO** recommends at least **150 to 300 minutes** of moderate aerobic activity per week (or the equivalent vigorous activity) for all adults, and an average of **60 minutes** of moderate aerobic physical activity per day for children and adolescents.
>
> **What does DEFIT aim to achieve?**
>
> **DEFIT** aims to nudge millions toward a healthier and more active lifestyle, prevent cardio-vascular diseases and reverse the trend.
